Bridgwater's Blake Museum
Photograph Collection
The Museum holds a substantial collection of photographs. Many of these are not, as yet, individually catalogued, though over 2,600 are. We estimate that there are perhaps as many as 15,000+ to identify and catalogue.
The Collection comprises
- older photographs, principally the work of
Robert Gillo ca. 1861-1881. Most of these have been scanned.
- photographs 1860 - 1950, many of which are not yet catalogued or scanned
- more recent photographs, principally the Don Smith Collection and those taken by Douglas Allan 1950 - 1964. Some of these do not relate to Bridgwater.
- miscellaneous recent, largely uncatalogued, consisting of the work of J Hedley Barry and various colour slides
A list of the known Bridgwater Photographers is available.
The photograph collection is held here.
